Cant Download Canon Software on Mac

Recently, I continued an old HP Officejet Pro 8500 to my network and tried to add the printer to my Macbook Pro running OS X Mount Lion. I was able to install the printer fine on my PC, simply when I tried to add the printer to OS X, I got the following mistake bulletin:

Can't install the software for the HP Officejet Pro 8550 printer because information technology is currently not available from the Software Update server.

Cant install printer

After doing some research online, it seemed I had to perform a Software Update since the driver for my HP printer was supported past Apple tree. I performed a software update, simply there was zilch to update! So now I was pretty dislocated equally to what I should practice. Luckily, I was able to figure information technology out, but information technology does take a few steps to get your printer properly installed on OS X.

Firstly, you have to manually download the printer commuter package for your printer brand from Apple. You can see a list of all the printers supported by Apple on this folio:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669

Outset make sure your printer is really listed there because if it isn't, and so you won't be able to install the printer on OS X no thing how difficult you endeavour. Your only other option at this point is to check the manufacturer's website and run across if they have a Mac commuter you can download that peradventure isn't included in the Apple driver package yet.

If your printer is listed there, then you demand to download the driver package and install it. Information technology would take been dainty if they had links straight from that page to the driver packages, only they don't. If you want the commuter packet for HP, go to Google and search "HP printer drivers mac" and the starting time link will bring you here:

Here are the links for a couple of more than, simply to notice any other brand, just put the brand name followed past "printer drivers mac" and you lot'll notice them. Brand sure to look for a URL that says "support.apple.com".

Download the DMG and install it on your Mac. Once y'all have installed it, go ahead and restart your computer. Now nosotros have to reset the press arrangement and then reinstall the printers. To reset the printing system, click on the Apple logo and so click on Organization Preferences.

System preferences

Now click on Print & Scan under the Hardware sub-heading:

Print scan

Now in a white area in the list of printers box, get alee and right-click. A carte will pop up and the simply option is to Reset Printing Organization.

Reset printing system

Note that resetting the printing system will remove all the printers from your computer. Even so, for the ones that were already at that place, don't worry because you tin add them back without needing to reinstall the drivers or use the CD or anything else. When the printing arrangement is reset, the list box will be empty. At present go alee and click on the + sign at the bottom of the list box.

Information technology should automatically notice all the printers connected via USB or wired or wireless. Get-go get ahead and add back the ones that were not causing the problem. Then go ahead and add the one that was giving you the error message.

Add printers mac

Hopefully, now when you cull the printer, it should install automatically without whatever errors because y'all downloaded and installed the commuter package manually. If you're still having trouble, post a comment here and I'll endeavor to aid. Enjoy!
